Don’t Coat Yourself In!
As you may know, PM high solid silicone roof coatings are designed to be applied quickly and in one pass. This has saved roofing contractors all over the country time and energy. With this time saving in mind, it’s easy to want to get up on the roof and start working as quickly as possible to finish as quickly as possible. Over the years, however, we’ve learned that taking a step back and planning can save you time and headaches!
Early Planning Saves!
Our final pro tip in this series deals with this planning phase. Something that can happen on a roof is accidentally backing yourself into a corner. We always recommend pinpointing your exit point before starting. By doing this you can work from opposite ends of the roof to ensure your final coating strokes will be applied right at the exit area. Apply your final coat from the exit area as seen in the graphic. This ensures you won’t get stuck in a sea of silicone!
If you begin the job thinking about the exit area and how you are going to get all of your supplies off the roof, you can ensure you’re not coating yourself in a corner…. literally. Make sure you spend time planning your job before you ever bring equipment up onto the roof. This will keep you on point instead of stuck, right when you thought your job was coming to an end.
