One of the most obvious benefits of silicone roof coatings is the ease of installation. As seen on our YouTube channel, the installation of silicone roof coatings is as easy as:
- Cleaning the roof
- Priming the roof (in some cases)
- Spot-patching seams, fasteners, and flashings (in some cases)
- Spraying or rolling on the silicone
As you can see, there is no tedious and costly tear-off during any step of this process. The roof must be cleaned and allowed to dry, but by eliminating a tear off, silicone roof restorations eliminate full construction teams working on your roof, weeks/months of labor costs, and the possibility of having to rearrange your building while it is without a roof. In fact, in most cases the only work you will have to do before starting actual installation would be a quick power wash of the roof.
In some cases (new single-ply roof systems, metal roof systems with rust damage, etc.), you will have to prime your roof before beginning the actual silicone installation. This process involves spraying or rolling on a coat of primer directly after cleaning the roof. This step is quick and easy and ensures the long life of your silicone roof coating. For more information on our primers and when they are necessary, you can go here, scroll down towards the bottom of the page, and find our “Primer Guide”.
When installing the actual silicone, you can spray or roll on our product depending on the size of your project. If your project has any fasteners (like on metal roofing systems), any vents or HVAC systems, or any seams or large cracks, your installation team will have to spot-patch these seams and holes first. Even with this possible first step, however, the installation process of a silicone coating is estimated to take half the time as a normal full roof replacement. It’s also important to note that this process requires far less staff to install than a re-roof.
