IS A SILICONE COATING THE SILVER BULLET IN THE ROOFING INDUSTRY?
The short answer is no. There are many situations in which our coating is not the right fit for your roof. While our coating does work very well, solve a lot of problems, and save a lot of money in many different situations, there are still other situations in which our coating is not the right choice for your roof. Silicone is most beneficial to building owners who are contemplating a complete roof tear off, but can avoid that with a silicone coating. This saves you time and money. So, if your roof needs tear off anyway, our coating isn’t right for you.
In order to help you make the best choice for your roofing system, we have prepared this quick guide covering some of the most common situations in which our coating wouldn’t be right. Read on to see if maybe a silicone roof coating isn’t the best choice for your roof.

New Construction
If you’re building a new facility or installing a new roof on your building, a silicone roof coating probably isn’t right for you. Our system requires a roof to be in place – it isn’t a standalone system – so it wouldn’t save you the money of reducing tear off or eliminating the need for a new roof in this situation.
Your Roof Isn’t Structurally Sound
If you’re roof is falling apart and isn’t safe, it needs to be repaired or replaced. Our coating is best when it can go straight over the existing roof. It won’t save much money if your roof already requires so much additional work.
The Insulation is Completely Wet
In the case of completely wet insulation, you’ll need to tear off your roof, replace the insulation, then replace the roof. Again, our coating won’t save you any money here because you have to tear out your roof with or without a coating.
You Own A Residential Property
Our line of coatings and accessories are designed for commercial use, through the expertise of a commercial roofing contractor. We do however manufacture a line of residential coatings that may work for your home.
Your Roof is Sloped
If your roof has a good amount of slope, our coating won’t be right for you – flat roofs are our target. However, our coating can hold on to a certain amount of slope – we have coated barrel roofs before – so you will have to test our coating in your individual situation.
Your Roof Has Large Ridges
If your roofing system has large ridges, such as asphalt shingles, or a lot of variation, such as clay tile, then our coating will have to go on your roof so thick to adjust for these ridges and variations, you won’t save any money. It works, but it doesn’t provide one of its most significant benefits.
Conclusion
While silicone roof coatings are a great roofing system in many situations, there are some instances where they simply aren’t a good fit and you will be disappointed if you elect to use them.
