The Fully-Reinforced PM Silicone System
As the country continues to open up and rebuild, everyone is still feeling the negative effects of the supply chain shutdowns that halted America due to COVID. Costs on everything from gas to groceries have gone up and construction supplies have been hit harder than almost any industry. This blog is dedicated to looking at our PS-900 Fully-Reinforced Silicone Roof System which can help alleviate some of the headaches brought on by this disaster.
As you have probably noticed, these cost increases must be passed down to the final purchaser. This makes new construction either extremely expensive or, in some cases, impossible. Some parts and materials are simply not available at this time. As a reference, we thought this article did a good job explaining the current state of construction pricing.
Enter Progressive Material’s PS-900. This system is different from a standard silicone restoration which restores a roof’s old substrate. It can actually act as a full roofing substrate for your new building. PS-900 is a 4-part system that combines:
- Base layer of PS-900 (2-2.25 gal/sq)
- Layer of mesh polyester fabric
- Intermediate layer of PS-900 (1.5 gal/sq)
- Top coat of any PM High Solids silicone. The top coat is applied at the rate determined by the warranty term.
As seen in the graphic, the PS-900 system adheres directly to the DensDeck. This offers a strong and long-lasting roofing substrate without all of the additional material costs that come with a traditional substrate. If you would like to use PS-900 as an enhanced silicone restoration on an existing substrate, you can do that as well. It can be used as a restoration coating or as a stand-alone substrate, making it a very versatile product.

Why is PS-900 so important in today’s climate?
First and foremost, it is available. Supply chains are still lagging, and experts say this trend could continue all the way into 2023. With single ply materials in short supply, PS-900 can fill the void where single ply used to be. Secondly, PS-900 adheres directly to the DensDeck. There are no screws, glues, or other construction materials needed when applying PS-900. You will still need these materials for iso board and DensDeck, but the ease of application is a major benefit of PS-900. Finally, PS-900 is seamless. Unlike traditional roofing substrates, PS-900 has no seams making it a long lasting and reliable substrate for your roof. Water will not find its way into the building through failed seams on a PS-900 roof!
