“We packed a spare, right…”
As if the blog title didn’t give it away, this week’s pro tip is a reminder to bring spare parts to the job site. It never fails that, unless verified before leaving the shop, you’ll forget something crucial during a coating job. Thankfully your PM family has got you covered!
We can assume that you will remember the large items for your coating jobs, but for this blog we wanted to pinpoint some of the more forgettable spare parts you’ll want to have on hand on the job site. Most people won’t forget the power washer, spray equipment, or roller extenders. There are parts for this equipment however that, if lost or broken, can instantly halt your progress until resolved.
Rolling Jobs
For coating jobs, the main spares you’ll need are extra rollers. On humid days, silicone-soaked rollers can dry and coagulate pretty quickly. Having more than enough rollers can help you from having to run to the hardware store mid-job. Additional items you’ll want to remember to stock up on are rubber gloves, mineral spirits, paddle mixers, and trash bags. Check out our Job Site Equipment List for a comprehensive list of job site needs!
Spray Jobs
When it comes to spraying, you will need most of what’s on the Equipment List, but you’ll also want to have extra sprayer parts on hand. If a sprayer tip breaks and you don’t have a spare on hand, your work will have to stop immediately until the issue is resolved. Similarly, if a seal breaks on a sprayer and you don’t have any spares, finishing the job the right way will become impossible. Having extra parts for your sprayer is a smart way to protect yourself from costly time off of the job site. Lucky for you, we have an in-house Graco rep at the ready to take on any questions about what parts you’ll need for any of the Graco Big Rigs we carry.
