WHAT CAN SPRAY FOAM DO FOR YOU?
We recently gave a tour of our manufacturing facility to two local accountants, and upon walking from the manufacturing side of the building to the storage side, we asked them if they noticed a change in temperature. They both immediately said yes – they noticed significant temperature changes walking from one side of the plant to the other. What is the difference between the two sides that caused the temperature change? Spray Foam roofing materials.
Spray Foam Saves Energy Costs
We install a spray foam roof on the manufacturing wing of the plant around three years ago, and have seen noticeable differences in temperature from the other wings with no foam. In the summer, the manufacturing wing stays cooler, and in the winter, it stays warmer. Year-round the manufacturing side of the plant requires less energy to maintain desirable temperatures. By trapping heat in during the winter months and reflecting the sun’s heat away in the summer, the spray foam roof helps keep the plant at a good working temperature for less energy.
Spray Foam Requires Less Labor
When spray foam is installed, the cost of material is often higher than other roofing materials. However, this cost is recouped due to the decrease in labor required to install and the roofing system. A spray foam roof is installed without the need to tear off the old roof; it is installed directly over the existing roof system. Because of that, installation expenses are greatly reduced. Once the roof has been installed, most repairs can be made by a facility manager with a tube of caulk.
Many building owners and facility managers have made the decision to spend a little bit extra on materials and recoup the cost through energy and labor savings in the future. There are also tax credits available if your roof meets certain energy standards. If you are looking for a way to improve the energy efficiency of your building and extend the life of your roof, a spray foam roof may be the answer.
