Don’t Get Stranded Without These!
To some, our first pro tip may seem like a given. With 3 generations of coating expertise under our belt, however, we’ve seen people make this mistake time and time again. Ensuring there is water, power, and a usable restroom at the job site is crucial to any coating job. Nothing can stifle production like the sudden realization that you have forgotten one of these three crucial elements.
Water
When we talk about water on the worksite, we are not talking about drinking water. Obviously drinking water is a must to ensure proper hydration, but we are talking large scale water usage. Nearly every silicone coating job starts with power washing the roof. You’ve probably power washed roofs thousands of times before, so it’s easy to assume there will be a water source at the site. In some cases, there are no water sources or the water sources have been temporarily shut off. It would be catastrophic to your time frame to get to the job site just to find out there’s no water source for your power washing! Always remember to reach out to the building owner to ensure there is a water source available prior to starting a project.
Power
Like water at the worksite, ensuring power is key to any job. Whether it’s powering your tools, your power washer, or just being able to keep the songs playing on the radio, power is necessary on any coating job. Make sure you coordinate power with the building owner prior to arriving on the job site. This will help keep you on pace to get the job done on time!
Restrooms
Let’s face it…. we’ve all been there. When you’re planning on being on a job site for hours or days at a time, knowing where restrooms are is a must! You can have all of the power and water a job site needs, but in that emergency situation, knowing where your restroom is, is something can save you time and stress. Make sure to coordinate porta potties or restroom usage with the building owner before beginning work. Otherwise you could be scrambling at the last minute. It’s laughable until you’re driving across town to find a usable facility in the middle of a project.
