HOW MANY OF YOUR ROOFING PROJECTS ARE HAMPERED BY POOR WEATHER?
With the exception of parts of southern California who seem to have “perfect weather”, most of us can say “pretty frequently”.
As we all know, being on a roof during the peak of the summer is intensely hot. But, doing a roofing project during the spring and fall, we can fall prey to issues with heavy rainfalls and too cool nights.
The beauty of silicone roofing systems is that weather is not as big a factor in roofing projects.
Here are the ways that silicone products help increase your chances of a successful roofing job:
Heat
In many cases very intense heat is accompanied by late afternoon thunderstorms. If you are using an acrylic roof coating, wash off is a strong possibility.
If you are using metal or tar based roofing products the intense heat of the sun is amplified while working with these products.
Silicone is extremely durable, and actually uses moisture in the air to cure the coating. It is easy to apply, and reduces the need for major roofing prep work. Silicone roof coatings can shorten your work time and can actually reduce the heat island effect on a roof by incorporating “cool” colors
Cool, Rainy Weather
Again, silicone is a superior coating due to its resilience to weather fluctuations. Cooler temperatures do not adversely affect cure rate and you can easily install these roofing systems in late fall and very early springtime.
Typically a silicone roofing system can fully cure in about 6 hours.
So, what does this mean for you?
Besides the fact that weather is not as big a factor when installing a silicone based roofing system, there are many other benefits:
- Cost reduction from lower labor costs;
- Contractor friendly with the lowest VOC on the market;
- Environmentally friendly, as it reduces the need for roof tear-off;
- and so much more.
