TIME AND METHODS FOR APPLYING RV ROOF COATINGS
So you own an RV and would like to preserve the roof for as long as possible. Or maybe the roof has begin to leak and you want to put a stop to that. Or maybe your RV is getting too hot in the sun and you’d like to cool it down naturally. Luckily for you in all 3 cases, we have a great coating that can be applied in many different ways. When it’s time to consider apply RV roof coatings to your roof, consider the following.
Who Will Be Applying RV Roof Coatings?
Our coatings aren’t like many other roofing systems that require a professional to install. We do work with professionals, but also with homeowners and RV owners. When it comes to applying RV roof coatings, the job can be done by you as the owner, or you can contact a professional. That professional can be a roofing contractor, or even a local painter. Because our material is liquid-applied, it is installed in much the same way as you would paint a wall. Painters apply a lot of silicone roof coatings, even to RVs, every year. Most people just aren’t aware of this option.
When Will They Be Applied?
Next, the decision is when to apply. This is a pretty easy problem to solve. You want to solve the coating before your next big RV trip to make sure you get maximum use. You want to install it on a sunny day so it has time to cure. The coating really only needs a couple hours, but when applying RV roof coatings we recommend trying to get 24 hours rain-free just to be safe. Finally, you probably want to apply it on a day that isn’t too terribly hot, just so you aren’t sweating buckets while working.
How Will They Be Applied?
As we mentioned above, our coatings can be applied in about the same way as you’d paint a wall. They can also be applied with spray equipment. We know that most of our residential customers don’t own sprayers just for applying RV roof coatings, so for them we recommend roll-applying. For this you’ll use a medium nap paint roller that you can get from Home Depot or Lowe’s. It’s a very simply process to apply RV roof coatings, you just have to determine which method you’ll use. Once you have the equipment, you’re ready to start installing the RV roof coating yourself.
What Must You Do?
Once you’ve answered the above questions, it’s time to actually start applying the RV roof coating to your roof. First, powerwash the roof to clear it of grease and grime. All you need is water and occasionally a light detergent if there is severe staining. Once powerwashed, apply the coating. That’s it! What a simple installation process.
Conclusion
Applying RV roof coatings is an extremely simple process that just about anyone can do. Answer the above questions and you’re ready to get going. If you’re interested, check out our products on Amazon or our online shop.
