PG 700 & PG 750
At Progressive Materials we are dedicated to protecting your building and helping it resist natural wear and tear. For those who are more familiar with PM, you know that we are also dedicated to job site safety. For these reasons, we have an entire system devoted to keeping your roof durable while providing a non-slip walking surface. In this week’s blog we will tell you everything you need to know about our Pro-Grip Walkway System.
Non-Slip Surface
Excessive foot traffic, dropping tools, and general wear and tear all contribute to damage on your roof. Many roofs perform well even under inclement weather throughout the years but human traffic on the roof can slowly cause problems to arise. Additionally, ensuring the safety of workers on a roof should be a top priority for any building owner or facilities manager. A 10-year study completed in 2009 found that one third of fatal falls were roof fatalities. Above all, reducing foreseeable risks is crucial to the maintenance of a building. The Pro-Grip Walkway System will help your roof resist abrasions and provide a safe walkway for people.
Two Parts, Four Steps
Our walkway system is a natural extension of our existing silicone roof coatings. One of the best parts of our walkway system is that it only requires 2 products and can be completed in one day.
The first part of the system is Pro-Grip 700 Walkway Coating which comes in a 5-gallon bucket. This is a 100% silicone coating that is very similar to our other coatings. PG-700 utilizes our high build silicone formula and is a bright, safety yellow color. Stable UV pigments to help maintain colorfastness.
The second part of the system is Pro-Grip 750 Walkway Granules which comes in a 2-gallon bucket. They should be applied generously into the wet coating after applying the topcoat of PG-700. The granules are an integral part of the mixture because they provide a greater resistance to wear and tear. They offer a rigid, non-slip surface to ensure the safety of the people on the roof. As a bonus, the granules and coating combined enhance the UV resistance of your roof!
Install in One Day
Follow these steps to apply the Pro-Grip Walkway System:
- Roll-apply the PG 700 Walkway Coating over the desired walkway area.
- Generously broadcast PG 750 Walkway Granules within a few minutes of coating application (if doing two coats, apply after topcoat).
- After the granules are applied, inspect the walkway surface and re-apply as needed to obtain a continuous film of granules. Every area of coating should be completely covered in granules.
- Once the coating has cured, remove all loose granules using a small hand blower and soft-bristled push broom.
In conclusion, we recommend buying the PG 700 and PG 750 products in conjunction, and never one without the other. For full details, you can read our Pro-Grip System product brochure. If you have additional questions about our Pro-Grip Walkway System, reach out to your regional manager here.
