By now, as illustrated in our past two blogs, “Ease of Installation” and “Post-Installation Benefits“, we are familiar with how convenient and durable silicone roof coatings are. What, then, is the downside? This stuff can’t last forever, right? Well… right. Silicone, like any kind of roofing substrate, is not impervious to decades of mother nature’s ferocity. So that’s the catch then, right? That’s the one “big thing” that makes silicone roof coatings too good to be true? That’s where you’re wrong.
An additional benefit to using silicone roof coating is its ability to be touched up and re-coated whenever necessary. As you probably know, Progressive Materials silicone has a warranty program of up to 20 years, but after that, only time will tell how long your roof has left. Sometimes the roof lasts multiple more years, but in certain climates wear and tear will begin to show after this period.
This is not an issue though since we can just re-apply. If in a 100-year building cycle you are looking at restoring your roof only a handful of times (typically at half the cost of a re-roof), you’ll be in pretty good shape.
If you’ve read “Ease of Installation” you will know just how easy it is to apply and re-apply silicone. When re-coating, all you have to do is power wash the current coating and then re-apply. It’s that simple, once again saving you considerable time and money.
Re-coating every couple of decades is a simple and easy way to save the life of your current roof, keep water out of your building, and keep your energy costs down for decades to come! To see just how easy our silicone roof coating installation is, don’t forget to check out our YouTube channel.
Next week is sure to be exciting as we get into the sustainable powers of silicone. Be sure to check in!
